A COWBOY'S GUIDE TO FREDERICKSBURG, Page 4

Clear River Pecan Company is the place to go for homemade ice cream. Perfect after 4 or 5 hot stages at Tin Star Ranch. It's okay to wear your cowboy duds

Fredericksburg has a World Class Wine Bar, Lincoln Street. When we got there this time the place was surrounded by motorcycles. The Redhead said, "Oh, oh, it's been discovered." But I knew not to worry. If they were at a wine bar they had to be Hell's Accountants. They were.

Nearby are several wineries. All offer tastings and sales. Here are three favorites:

Bell Mountain Vineyards -- fine quality estate bottled wines since 1976

Becker Vineyards (Becker Chardonnay Reserve and Cabernet Reserve were served at the Crawford Summit)

Grape Creek Vineyards -- Award winning wines and a neat bed and breakfast.

And there's Wildseed Farms:

You can get all kinds of stuff for your garden there, including wildflower seeds.

We stayed a lot at the new Holiday Inn Express, pretty generic hotel, right?

But check out the painting at checkin:

And the cowboy in the lobby, and the sign, "We don't dial 911" with a six-shooter displayed below. Could it be they thought of us?

There are hundreds of Bed and Breakfasts in Fredericksburg and hundreds of hotel rooms from cheap to expensive. Finding a place to stay shouldn't be a problem.

Check the Fredericksburg Chamber of Commerce's website for things I've left off.
